We know about the health benefits of red wine, but according to the Institute of Food Research at Norwich, cider has the same level of antioxidants as green tea, blackcurrant juice or red wine in helping to fight disease. It is also high in potassium, needed for nerve function, muscle control and to regulate blood pressure.
Two Silver Medals
We are thrilled to announce that for the 4th year in a row Signature Wines has captured a medal at the Winemaker Magazine International Wine Competition! This year we took home silver medals for our Estate Sonoma Dry Creek Valley Unwooded Chardonnay, and our Selection International Series Australian Shiraz. The competition was held in Manchester, Vermont and this year there were a record total of 4,508 entries. This is the largest and most diverse competition of its kind in the world with wines from as far away as Spain, Turkey and Australia. The wines were judged on appearance, aroma, taste, aftertaste and overall impression. Congratulations to our phenomenal production staff who have made this wonderful honour possible.
June SPECIALS – The Wines of France
Selection 6 – 7 week kits at $15 off
French Chardonnay $107.95 – An elegant white with notes of citrus and fruit gently wrapped in vanilla and oak. This wine was a gold medal winner last year and is perfect with salmon in a cream sauce.
French Merlot $108.95 – A classic Merlot with ripe red berries and a touch of French oak. This is a great wine to service with beef tenderloin. It was a silver award winner in 2008.
French Cabernet Sauvignon $108.95 – This red does not require a great deal of ageing as the tannin is quite soft. It is medium bodied, dry and a deep ruby red colour. A nice choice for early fall drinking.
World Vineyard 4 – 5 week kits at $10 off
French Sauvignon Blanc $66.95 – This is one of the most popular whites of this series. It is crisp and refreshing with notes of fresh herb and citrus. A dry easy sipping wine that is made without oak is a nice right at bottling.
French Cabernet Sauvignon $76.95 – A bronze medal winner that is a less full bodied version of the four week kit. It is a great wine to serve when you have taken the steaks off the bbq.

Riesling $55.95 – This is a good party wine and will make a great house white when the house guests descend upon you. It is dry, made without oak and perfect for drinking on the deck.
White Zinfandel $64.95 - A dream blush wine for summer sipping. It is off dry, medium bodied with sweet fruit notes that dance across your palate. Serve it chilled with tapas or spicy foods.
Chai Maison 4 – 5 week kits at $8 off
Pinot Blanc $43.95 - Dry, crisp refreshing and made for a warm summer evening.
Pinot Noir $45.95 – A wildly popular red that is elegant and delicate. Many people like to add a White Zinfandel F-Pack to this wine which gives it a burst of warm fruit flavour.
Ducky 500 Tickets
The famous Comox Rotary Ducky 500 race will once again take place on July 1st in Lewis Park. Tickets are $10 and are available for sale at the wine shop. First prize this year is $5,000 in cash! Both Sigrid and Traci are members of the Comox Rotary and their club works tirelessly to improve our community.
